Hello there, I’m Rachael Suggs! I was born and raised in the tiny town of Parrottsville, Tennessee and I currently live in Jefferson City, so I’ve been living it up in East Tennessee my whole life. I’m so happy to meet you!
I graduated from Cocke County High School in 2015. During my time at CCHS, I was heavily involved in the school’s Advanced Choir. It was through that experience that I discovered my love for singing and my desire to become a high school choir director in the future. After graduation I began the next chapter of my life as a student at Carson-Newman University studying Vocal Music Education. Because I was a first-generation college student and had very little idea of what to expect beyond what I had researched and watched on television, adjusting to college life was a bit strange for me. Fortunately, I joined some campus ensembles and organizations such as A Cappella Choir, Redemption, and Delta Omicron that helped me meet new people and, later in my college career, take on leadership positions as well.
Last May, I graduated from CNU with my Bachelor of Music degree and I have been loving life ever since. Though choral conducting is still very much my passion and what I want to pursue in life, I wanted to take some time to explore other interests and serve high school students in a
new way. When I saw the opportunity to become a NiswongerCARE advisor, I knew that this was my chance to explore an interest that I had never tried before. I am incredibly excited to take on this new role!
I have a life outside of my college and career pursuits as well! After 6 years of being together (4.5 of which were long-distance), I got married to my wonderful husband, Ben, on June 15. When I’m not working or practicing music, you can find me playing video games (I LOVE the Legend of Zelda series), reading, spending time with friends and family, watching movies, and taking endless pictures of my beloved cat, Zelda.
